Hi! I'm Courtney, and I've spent well over a decade working in accounting across a range of industries from local restaurants and CPG startups to publicly traded credit card companies.
I started Necessary Evil Co. because I genuinely want to make accounting easier for people who don't understand it, don't enjoy it, and didn't start a business because they wanted to spend their time thinking about their books.
I help creatives, makers, and other service-based businesses put practical systems in place, understand their financials, and make solid decisions about what comes next. Sometimes that means coding bank transactions from 7 months ago. Other times it's sitting down with you to look at the numbers behind your next idea and figure out whether it makes sense for where you're headed.
I'm not here to hand you a cookie-cutter system that's a pain to use, upsell you on services you don't need, or run up hours for fun. I'm here to help make the numbers make sense, give you the information you need to hit your goals, and alleviate whatever accounting-related stress I can so you can get back to doing what you love.
